How much money did your web site make today?

Amazingly ... it's a question that many business owners can't answer. Sometimes don't even think to ask. After spending weeks and weeks of planning, creating content, coding and testing ... not to mention the cost of either a "do it yourself" or "hire a web guy" effort ... the site just sits there. Unnoticed. Un-measured. Maybe even unloved. At Good Idea Cafe, we think that's a waste. While there may be many reasons to create a web site, isn't the bottom line ... well ... the bottom line? Your web site was created to do something ... not just to sit there taking up space. The call to action may have been direct sales via the web site. Or to have your potential customer request information or pick up the telephone and call you. Or for your customer to know ... to know ... how your business is unique and standshead-and-shoulders above your competition. More...

Very good isn't. Remarkable is.

We hope you've read Seth Godin's Purple Cow. Because as a company, Good Idea Cafe takes a lot of direction and motivation from this book (and others by Mr. Godin).

As he puts it:

"Cows, after you've seen one or two or ten, are boring. A Purple Cow, though ... now that would be something. Purple Cow describes something phenomenal, something counter intuitive and exciting and flat out unbelieveable. Every day, consumers come face-to-face with a lot of boring stuff -- a lot of brown cows -- but you can bet they won't forget a Purple Cow. And it's not a marketing functionn that you can slap onto your product or service. Purple Cow is inherent. It's built right in or it's not there. Period."

That's what we intend with every web solution that we create with you. A web site that your customers will consider -- not simpy "very good" -- but remarkable. Your very own Purple Cow. More...

I just didn't want the hassle of installing new software, dealing with users, whatever. Truth be told, I've forgotten the reasons I didn't want to purchase it. I do recall talking about it being "Microsoft" and "a beta version" and pointing out how I didn't buy anything that was version 1.0 from Microsoft, let alone beta.

Tom persisted as nineteen year olds are included to do. I repeated my "it's beta" argument to no avail. Finally - exasperated - Tom looked me square in the eye and exclaimed, "But, Bill, everything's beta." More...
