Picture the friendly, neighborhood cafe in your mind...
One of the priciples that guides us at Good Idea Cafe is the very simple idea that people should talk to each other and help out each other whenever we can. We believe this is essential both in our personal lives and in business. We created this section of our site to accomplish just that ... a place where our clients, our friends, the folks that Stumbled Upon™ us or Googled™ us could sit down, relax, talk with each other and learn from each other.

Conversation
It may be a result of our "chief cook and bottle washer's" academic career ... we believe that everyone is both student and teacher. And we'd like for the conversation on our site to extend beyond web-centric how-to's and the standard faire of "tips, tricks and techniques." We'll include those things, of course, but we also want to include a general discussion about how we all use the web. What works, what doesn't. Real life examples and how folks in the cafe implemented them. What they cost. What we learned. More...
Do It Yourself
OK ... no surprise here ... DIY (Do It Yourself) sites are fine when you're creating a personal or a family site. We all know that when it's time to create a professional business site, it's time to hire a professional web development company. But we love the web's accessibility and the DIY'ers that make it an incredible tool. People around the world that engage each other, trade ideas, entertain and challenge each other. And just plain, flat out, cool stuff for personal use and business use ... things that do what technology should do (make life easier!). More...
Small- and Medium-sized Businesses
We understand the unique online communications needs of the small- and medium-size business community. After all, we're a member in good standing of that community. We understand that time and money are limited in the best of circumstances. We understand the importance of taking "the big picture" into account, setting goals, examining the options and alternatives, and creating a plan that will be effectively implemented that meets those goals. And yes ... one of those goals should always be to measure your return on investment. More...
Nonprofit Organizations
Maybe even more than the small business, nonprofit organizations struggle to find enough time and money to implement their programs. We love people and organizations that are in the business of improving their little corner of the world. And we understand the unique needs of communicating with volunteers and donors. Building community is an essential requirement for any web site that Good Idea Cafe creates for our nonprofit organizations. More...
Educational Institutions
And we love schools. As mentioned elsewhere on this site, our "chief cook and bottle washer" worked in academic environments for a long time before founding Good Idea Cafe. We bring firsthand knowledge of what works to attract new students, to attract new donors, to serve students and parents, and to advance their academic goals as part of the educational community.
